What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a 200 year old modality that balances and strengthens the whole person. To the homeopath, health is that state in which the individual is free to reach his or her full potential in life. Many people who experience homeopathy report emotional and spiritual growth as well as an increase in physical well being.
What diseases does homeopathy treat?
Homeopathy does not treat specific diseases, but rather brings balance and strength to the life force so the person’s own natural healing ability can do its job. When we cut ourselves, we heal; when we have a cold, we get well. We all have a natural healing ability. The same person that comes in complaining of physical symptoms may also have depression, insecurities, low energy and a host of other problems. The homeopath looks at everything going on in a person’s life to find a remedy that will balance and strengthen the whole person.
I had a friend whose migraines went away using homeopath, so how can you say it doesn’t treat disease?
Lets take an example of two people who come to a homeopath with headaches. One person’s headache is right sided, he feels irritable and chilly, while the other person’s headache is concentrated in the forehead, she feels hot and weepy. To the homeopath these are two different expressions of the life force and indicate two completely different remedies. Once the life force is brought into balance, each person’s natural healing ability can work unhindered to bring about the greatest possible well being.
What can I expect when I come to a homeopath?
During a lengthy initial consultation, called a case study, all of the problems will be explored. Then a single homeopathic remedy that matches the whole picture is chosen. This substance is called the constitutional remedy. Once the constitutional remedy is found, there may be a slight aggravation of symptoms as the life force is stimulated, after which the person will experience increased well being at all levels; spiritual, mental, emotional and physical.
