I graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1977. Then I did a one year rotating internship at Parkview Hospital in Toledo, Ohio. I received my license to practice medicine in the state of Ohio in 1978. I, and all D.O.s, are licensed to do everything that allopathic physicians (M.D.s) can do. We are additionally trained in manipulative medicine similar to what chiropractors do. See, What is a D.O.?
I practiced as a family practice and emergency room physician for many years. I became certified in family practice. In the late 90's I became very interested in alternative therapies and subsequently opened Dr. Jim's Center for Advanced Medicine in Cincinnati, Ohio. I closed this practice after 15 years in 2013.
I presently consider myself semi-retired, whatever that means. I plan to continue taking care of patients for another 10 years, at least. I still have my Shots for Health Clinics, see patients and do IVs on Mondays in Dayton. I do not any insurance.
